Two Rivers

Original Design Concept

The Two Rivers label was developed for a Virginia-based client located outside of Williamsburg. The area, known as the “Historic Triangle”, was at the heart of the American Revolution.

A washed-out hydrological map, circa 1600, from a Virginia online archive was the perfect starting point. The cadet blue and penny brown color scheme was naturally complementary and popped dramatically when some of the yellow was desaturated from the map paper. Elements of previously established branding was arranged to give the visual effect of a traditional logo. The map compass rose was repositioned to crown the typography.
